Atkins Virtual Interview Most Asked Questions and Answers

Question: What is your ideal work environment?

Tips to Answer: Try to tailor an answer that blends in well with Atkins’s values and vision. Do not focus your answers solely on the people you will be working with.

Good Answer: My ideal work environment is the one which is a blend of collaboration and innovation. I am an innovative person and I believe when we work in a collaborative environment, we put together all the great minds and there’s where we can find innovation. The best part about collaboration is that it leads to faster decision-making and diverse ways of problem-solving.

Question: Tell us something that is not on your CV?

Tips to Answer: For this, you could open with a joke, however, don’t risk it if you don’t believe the joke is appropriate for Atkins. For this, consider Atkins’ workplace culture and the interviewer, as first impressions count! You could discuss any casual events or even tell them about a voluntary cause that you feel deeply about and work in your idle time towards supporting. Tell them how far you have gone on that road and how far you would like to reach in the future.

Good Answer:  Anything that’s not on my resume can get me rejected straightaway (jokingly). Jokes apart, I do feel that the increasing deforestation will have an adverse effect on the planet in the long run, and for that I try to do the bare minimum that I can in my capacity. I run campaigns on vacations to spread awareness in different cities. I have also hosted a number of plantation drives in recent years. I know that these things aren’t enough to save our planet from grave danger, but I do feel that if I can bring change to even one in a thousand people, that’s a win-win.

Question: Why do you want to work with Atkins?

Tips to Answer: This question is built in a way to rule out those who apply in masses. Therefore, it is important that you show them your long-term commitment towards Atkins. Assure them that you understand their brand and demonstrate your passion for Atkins. Do your research and focus on what interests you about Atkins on a personal and professional level.

Good Answer: For me success requires compassion and safety for another. At Atkins, since the company has been established it has shown that success can be achieved with collaboration and teamwork, whilst keeping in mind the environment and the local community. I’ve always sought a challenging company that can enhance my experience and skills whilst providing prosperity through safety and compassion to my team, the Atkins family, the community and the environment.

5 Key Tips to Prepare for the Atkins Technical Interview

  1. Research the Role

Understand the more complex skill requirements for the role using the job description and Atkins’s company culture. What is the skill level required for the job? Consider the essential experience required for the role’s tasks.

      2. Brush-up on Programming Language Concepts

If you are applying for a software programming role at Atkins, choose an object-oriented programming language you’re comfortable with. Aim to spend at least a week or two brushing up on key concepts. Practice solving tricky and complex coding problems to enhance your skills.

Important note: During the Atkins technical interview you may also be asked to work with Revit and BIM. This Atkins Revit interview will be for engineering and architect candidates and have included working with Revit as a skill. So, for those candidates, revising the concepts and practicing particularly for the Atkins Revit test is crucial.

    3. Prepare Several Examples

Ensure to bring key examples from your experiences so far on the skills you have demonstrated. Think about the top achievements you can provide for each of the key requirements and experiences listed in the job description. Feel free to draw upon working, educational and any other experiences you may have.

  4. Schedule Adequate Time to Prepare

Schedule adequate time to enhance your understanding of concepts in data structures and algorithms. Begin your Atkins interview prep at least 8 weeks before your interview to give yourself adequate time to get familiar with the problem-solving mindset you need to do well.

 5. Identify Problem-Solving Patterns

5 Best Questions to Ask in a Job Interview #shorts
Atkins Interview Questions and Answers

Here are some of the most commonly used interview questions during the Atkins interview process and our tips on how you can best answer them:

Question: What are your Strengths and Weaknesses?

Tips to Answer: Pick one strength and one weakness. For strengths you can pick any of the key competencies for the job from the job description, but make sure to provide an example. For the weakness, do not include qualities like pleasing people, difficulty in saying no, etc. Use a real weakness when answering because it may otherwise appear as dishonest. Avoid using a skill required on the job description.

Good Answer: My strength is working well in a team, where I prioritize group goals over personal goals and always actively listen to my team members’ thoughts and ideas. Although I may struggle with time-management, I continue to seek to improve this by taking a time-management course. I constantly develop my organisational skills and manage time effectively, leading to more efficiency at work. I left my previous job to seek new responsibilities according to my skills and continue to work towards personal goals.

To get more tips on how to answer this question, watch this short video by GF:

How to answer “What is Your Greatest Weakness?” | Job Interview Question #shorts

Question: Do you consider yourself successful?

Tips to Answer: First things first, DO NOT say no, even if you don’t consider yourself successful at the moment. Bring out the positive approach in your answer. Explain to them what success means to you, i.e., how you define success. Your answer should show pride in what you have achieved so far and ambition to continue to achieve greater successes.

Good Answer: I measure success by my personal goals and the relationships I have with those who inspire and support me. While I’ve faced challenges and failures, I’ve also kept close to those who motivate me. Despite not yet achieving everything, I remain optimistic and driven towards my aspirations. I see myself as continuously growing and striving towards success.

Question:  Tell me about a time when you collaborated with a team

Tips to Answer: This is again a behavioural question where you will be required to answer in a way that convinces the interviewer that you understand the value of working in a team. Consider a project where you have worked well in a team. How was this organised? What did you achieve as a team?

Good Answer:

  • Situation –  I was a data analyst in my last job within a team of data analysts and we had to work on our own findings for a shared client case and come up with a plan for the company within a very short deadline.
  • Task – We had to find the data which would help our client to improve their performance as part of a group project rather than individual project.
  • Action – We delegated the main research functions and managed our own areas, scheduling daily meetings to ensure we were all caught up on the progress of the report.
  • Result – Working together helped complete the report for our client much more quickly and efficiently than we had done as an individual project, meeting the short deadline.
  • Reflect – Moving forwards, I always seek to find the most efficient method to achieve our shared goals and satisfy the requirements from the client in a way that worked for each of us in the team.
