Lloyds numerical tests are timed and they look for both agility and accuracy in the candidate. Therefore, it’s important for you to do smart work rather than hard work. For that purpose, we have come up with a few tips and tricks for you to ace your Lloyds Numerical Reasoning Test.

3 Top Tips to ace your Lloyds Numerical Reasoning Test.

  1. Look at the question first: Take a look at what the question requires you to do, rather than just reading and understanding every bit of information present. These tests generally contain a lot of information that may not be of any use to the candidates, just to puzzle them. So, look out.
  2. Build a strategy: The Lloyds Numerical Reasoning test is timed and thus you will have to use your time wisely. The best way to use that is, assign a time limit to each question with a certain amount of time to spare for review or re-check, and do not spend more time on a question than the assigned time limit.
  3. Do not dwell on one question: Do not get stuck solving a particular question for too long. If you cannot solve it within the time limit assigned, move on.

To prepare you completely for your upcoming Lloyds Video Interview, we have come up with Most asked Lloyds interview questions and the best ways to answer them. Let’s take a look.

Lloyds Video Interview Questions and Answers

How do you deal with conflict?

Tips to Answer: The reason employers ask this question is to know if you can communicate effectively with a co-worker or customer. In this situation, think of a story where you came up with a positive outcome and solved the disagreement and had learned something new which is worth sharing with the employer. However, do not share a story which had negative implications for the company, such as a high cost in money and time.

Good Answer:

  • Situation: In my last position, I was new at the job. The two senior members of my team showed me the process of working, and gave me enough time to understand and adapt with the process of working. However, I had not met the target for the month as I didn’t understand this process.
  • Task: One of my senior members scheduled a private meeting where he discussed the implementation of using the provided method during my work.
  • Action: We discussed our views on how to complete these tasks and came to an agreement to learn the current process first and then to investigate more efficient potential methods overtime. For the following month, I focused on using the established method and had met the targets. I had continued to meet with the senior team member to research more efficient methods.
  • Result: In the following months after we had begun these meetings, I had started consistently meeting my targets, and had improved my performance by up to 25% in the first 2 months. As I developed my efficiency in this process, it gave me spare time to brainstorm other methods and ask further questions to my fellow team members.
  • Reflect: I discovered that I can ask questions when I don’t understand the process to complete my projects, and that communication is very important for all departments and jobs. On reflection, I understand that I can communicate with my team to more effectively complete our work.
How do you meet tight deadlines?

Tips to Answer: Employers ask this question to know how well you work under pressure and if you understand the urgency of tight deadlines. Therefore, it’s important that you tell the employer about your methods of handling deadlines, i.e. your time management methods. Choose a specific deadline that you had to meet from your experiences in a previous job or during your education. Discuss how your time management methods have positively impacted your project.

Good Answer:

To manage my time well and deliver work within the deadline, I make to-do lists for each day. For example, if I have a particular deadline in 3 days, I pick up small tasks to complete each day, and try to complete these tasks within the assigned time frame. In doing this, I find that it reduces pressure from uncertainty by breaking these tasks down into more manageable tasks. I am often able to complete my projects within the deadline as a result of this technique.

How to handle a difficult customer?

Tips to Answer:  Lloyds is a customer-oriented bank and thus your employers will want to know how you work with customers. Therefore, your answer should tell your employers that you empathise with your customers, are capable of understanding their problems and determined to find solutions in order to help them. Lloyds is likely to seek a candidate who is calm and knows how to communicate, so make sure you discuss a situation where you handled a difficult customer by keeping calm and understanding the customer’s point of view.

Good Answer:

When dealing with a difficult customer, I try to understand what the customer has to say for themselves. When trying to understand the customers’ inconvenience it’s important to listen with patience and without getting offended. And for that, keep in mind that the customer isn’t angry at any individual but at the service of the organisation as a whole. This makes it easier to get into the customer’s shoes without taking what they say to your heart.

So, let’s know how you can do well in your Lloyds Final Interview.

Lloyds Final Interview

What is the Lloyds final interview?

The Lloyds Final Interview is the last assessment centre exercise that you have to go through. The Lloyds Final Interview is a face-to-face interview with a senior manager of your field, wherein you will be asked motivational, technical and competency-based questions around the role that you have applied for.

Lloyds Final Interview Tip: The trick for competency-based questions is to be prepared with answers in the STAR+R structure for the most common Lloyds Interview questions.

What is the STAR+R structure and how do I use this method in my Lloyds interview? Let’s find out with this short video:

How to Answer Competency-Based Interview Questions (STAR Technique) #shorts

Here are some example answers we’ve made to the most commonly asked Lloyds interview questions in the Lloyds Bank interview, which will help you develop your own answers

Lloyds Final Interview Questions and Answers

When was the time you went above and beyond for a customer?

Tips to Answer: The interviewers ask this question to know if you are determined to help your customers. They want to know when the time comes, will you do everything in your capacity or beyond to help your customer. Think of a story where you empathised with the customer and the reason why you empathised strongly with that particular customer which made you pull so many strings to help them.

Good Answer:

  • Situation: There was this one lady who was a widow as her husband had just passed away. She used to sit for hours every day at the bank to withdraw money from her Fixed Deposit account and put it into another account.
  • Task: My manager was quite busy with other urgent projects and I couldn’t see her like that every day. Being a staff of the bank, I had easier access to the manager and details of her account.
  • Action: So, I made sure to get her work done by writing applications on her behalf outside of my working hours, getting them signed by my manager when free and finally getting her work done.
  • Result: We transferred the lady’s funds across the accounts much more quickly and effectively, and helped the lady to feel special and it had painted a positive impression of the bank from other customers.
  • Reflect: I enjoy working more for my customers, and as an executive of the customer help desk my aim was to always go the extra mile to help my customers. I always seek new ways to help my customers such as this lady feel valued by my organisation beyond the job description.

At Lloyds we value empathy, why do you think that is?

Tips to Answer: Lloyds value empathy and they would definitely want someone to have this quality. And therefore it should be clear to your employers that you value empathy as much as they do. Tell them how you define empathy as an individual and what position it holds in your life.

Good Answer:

Lloyds is concerned deeply about their customers and if they are getting the best service. For a great organisation such as Lloyds, it is important that its customers are satisfied with their service. And an organisation can only satisfy its customers fully when they can understand their problems completely and empathise with them.

Therefore, Lloyds’ main purpose is to look for empathy in the employees they hire. Because good employees make up a good organisation. I personally feel to understand one another, to help one another and to uplift one another we need to empathise with one another. Biggest of fights and the hardest of conflicts can be solved if one knows how to empathise and thus I’ve worked on myself to instil empathy in my personality and understand my customers’ problems by putting myself in their shoes.

What can you bring to the role?

Tips to Answer: The employers ask this question to know if your skills align with the requirements of the job, if you are enthusiastic about the job role and if you understand the requirements of the job. To answer this question, it’s important that you recall Lloyds’ values and read the job description carefully. Carry out a self assessment; ask questions to yourself like, “What motivates me?”, “What kind of company culture am I looking for?”, “What are my career goals?”, etc.

Good Answer:

I have 7 years experience in financing and I have worked in different sectors of financing, therefore, I have mastered my skills in this sector. I still have a lot to learn and am ready for more challenges and thus I have applied for this job. I look for cost and time cutting solutions within my department to increase efficiency. In my last job, I created a new filing system which reduced the amount of time spent completing monthly financial reports by 45%.

If I am offered a role at Lloyds, I will bring in creativity, passion and improvement in this job for the organisation to flourish.

2 Key Tips to Ace Motivational and Technical Lloyds Interview Questions
  1. Research – Understand the requirements of the job you are applying for. Discover the latest news, achievements and projects around Lloyds Bank. Consider the key values and how they align with you and the role you are applying for.
  2. Revise – Check the job description and field to uncover what skills are required for the role. Refresh your knowledge of the key topics around your area and practice solving common problems/situations that are likely to come up.

For example: for a data science role, ensure you brush up on your coding skills and ability to analyse large quantities of data. Consider the recent changes Lloyds have made to their apps and products, and how these may affect purchasing decisions and customer outcomes.

At the end of the interview, you will have the opportunity to ask questions to your interviewer. You should definitely use this opportunity because this shows the employer that you are genuinely interested in the job.
