While I worked as a sales associate, there was a customer who came in looking for a product that was out of stock and was frustrated to find out about this, as it was an urgent need.
Task:
I made it my task to find a way to help the customer get the product they needed, despite it not being available in-store. My goal was to make sure that the customer left the store satisfied.
Action:
I listened attentively to the customer’s concerns and apologised for the inconvenience before checking the product’s availability at nearby stores and found that another location had the product. I offered to reserve it for the customer and arranged for it to be sent to their preferred location for pickup.
Result:
The customer was grateful for the services rendered, and they expressed gratitude. They not only returned to pick up the product but also left a positive review about the experience, which increased our store’s customer satisfaction ratings.
Reflection:
This experience reinforced the importance of listening to the customer, staying calm under pressure, and going above and beyond to find a solution for the customers. It also reminded me of how small gestures, like offering a discount or personalised service, can easily turn a negative experience into a positive one.
