Here’s what you’ll uncover in this guide:
The EY experience day, or the EY assessment centre, is a full-day or half-day virtual or physical event in the EY recruitment process designed to evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the role and help them understand EY’s culture.
There are three EY assessment day exercises to be taken in the EY hiring process, and they are:
Case Study Exercise:
The EY case study exercise case study exercise measures your analytical thinking, business acumen, and communication skills. Candidates will be presented with a fictional business scenario that could involve a client problem, market expansion, or operational challenge.
Group Exercise:
The EY group exercise assesses teamwork, effective communication, and problem-solving under pressure, emphasising collaboration and demonstrating EY’s values over the solution itself.
Final Interview:
The EY final interview is the last stage of Ernst & Young’s recruitment process. It is designed to assess whether a candidate is a strong overall fit for the role and the firm’s culture. It typically involves a one-on-one interview with a senior leader.

In the EY case study, you will write a report or give a presentation summarizing your analysis, solutions, and rationale. This exercise simulates a real consulting task and tests your data interpretation, decision-making, and thought structuring.
In the EY group exercise, you will work with other candidates on a business scenario. You will analyse information, discuss solutions, and make decisions as a team, possibly culminating in a group presentation to assessors.
During the EY final interview, the tone is often more conversational than in the earlier stages, and it’s your opportunity to demonstrate professionalism, self-awareness, and a genuine interest in the finance firm.
