What is the LVMH role play exercise?

The LVMH role play exercise will focus around how you behave and perform in a situation you are likely to encounter in the role you are applying for. This may be in a group or individually with the assessor who will take on the role of a customer, co-worker, manager or client.

1. Understand the purpose of the exercise: consider the key skills and competencies that the LVMH role-play is designed to test. How would you demonstrate these skills?

2. Refine Active listening: effective communication is key. Fully focus on the other person, maintain eye contact, and give verbal and nonverbal cues e.g. through nods and gestures of agreement.

3. Practice: feel more comfortable and confident with the role through practicing with a friend or colleague. Aim to practice different strategies and approaches. When rehearsing, ensure you know what you are going to say and how.

4. Manage conflict: Avoid confrontation and speaking over the role-player. Ensure you show that you empathize and make a point of this at least twice. Hear the role-player’s opinions and feelings and work together to reach a mutual win-win outcome.

What is the LVMH presentation exercise?

The LVMH presentation exercise will involve analyzing a case study relevant to the job role and Maison you are applying for, and presenting your conclusions in a 10-15 minute presentation. These exercises are often used for UK LVMH assessment centers and allow up to 30 minutes of analyzing the scenario provided before beginning the presentation.

How to ace the LVMH presentation exercise?

• Stay calm – You may be questioned on your analysis during the presentation. Remain calm, avoid confrontation and don’t speak over the assessor.

• Understand the key facts – You are unlikely to be asked questions beyond the key facts in the information provided to you.

• Keep in time – Check on the time throughout. Aim to avoid finishing your presentation too early as this can be viewed negatively by your LVMH assessors.

• Involve the audience – Don’t forget to ask whether the assessor has any questions at the end. Find out if the assessor is looking for anything specific from the presentation.

• Check your body language – Maintain relaxed eye contact throughout, and avoid walking around to retain the assessors’ attention.

The LVMH final interview may occur during the assessment centre for graduates or separately for roles seeking greater experience. Your LVMH final interview will be with a director or senior manager of the House you are applying for and will focus around your ambitions, personality and behaviors.
