Stage 1

Online Application Form

The form requires you to outline your academia and work experience. It should take you approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Stage 2

Situational Judgement Test

Upon completing your application form, you will receive a link to a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) within one working day. This consists of difficult hypothetical scenarios that you may encounter as a trainee with KPMG. You will be asked for your course of action from a list of set responses. You have a 7-day window to complete the SJT, though it should only take 30 minutes.

Stage 3

Online Numerical and Verbal Reasoning Tests

If your SJT result proves to be successful, you may be required to complete online verbal and numerical reasoning tests – both of which take around 20 minutes each to complete. The tests are specifically designed to test you on skills needed in the KPMG workplace: your ability to analyse numerical and written data. You must complete the tests within 7 days of receiving them.

Stage 4

First Round Interview

If you are successful in the reasoning tests, you will be invited to join a 45-minute telephone interview. KPMG will try to set you up with an interviewer from the business area you have applied to. They will assess your behavioural capabilities using KPMG’s competency and scenario based questions.

Stage 5

Immersive Assessment Centre

After the interview, on the Assessment Day, you will be provided with information regarding a fictional KPMG-like organisation. You will then be given a chance to complete various activities (listed below) based on this organisation. The purpose of this exercise is to provide you with an idea of what a KPMG trainee undergoes on a daily basis.

  • The Virtual Office Exercise is laptop-based. You will be expected to deal with multiple messages (such as emails and voicemails) at once, within a time limit. This task tests your ability to prioritise and your ability to deal with various things at once.
  • The Analysis Exercise is also laptop-based and lasts around an hour. You will be asked to review complex information and write down your recommendations.
  • Lunch is a perfect opportunity for you to meet other KPMG trainees and get an inside look into the KPMG experience.
  • Two Simulated Meetings assess how you’d handle a client and an internal meeting. This provides you with a flavour of the type of meetings that take place at KPMG.

Succeed on the assessment day and you’ll be invited back to complete a final interview.

Stage 6

Final Interview

The final interview is more in-depth than the first round interview. Also, depending on your application, you may be asked to prepare a presentation.
