A recent study (Bradley et al, 2019) found that candidates who do not practise assessments, tend to fail at the first hurdle of psychometric assessments (54%-84%). This study looked at the Top 100 global employers.

If you decide to apply for E.ON, you can practice online aptitude tests with us to improve your results and get scores above their threshold.

1. Online Application

You will need to complete an online application form.

2. Situational Judgement Test (SJT)

If your initial application was successful, you will be required to take a SJT. The test itself is comprised of different scenarios, that you may face on the programme, and you will need to answer them based on how you think you would react. The test will not be timed so you can go at your own pace.

3. Online Tests

If you successfully pass the SJT you will be required to take one of three online tests: verbal, numerical or a personality test.

4. Interview

If tour online test result was adequate, you will be invited to an interview. Science and engineering candidates will have a face-to-face technical interview while other candidates will have a competency-based telephone interview

The technical interview will assess how much you know about your chosen field. You will also be asked about your CV. It should last around 45 minutes.

The competency-based interview will last 30-40 minutes, and will require you to give specific examples of where you have demonstrated a particular skill in the past.

5. Assessment Centre

The final stage of the recruitment process will take place at an assessment centre – here, you will be required to participate in a range of exercises (see below for potential activities). This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about E-on, and its operations. This stage will last for up to a-day-and-a-half.

  • Case Study and Mini Case Study – you will be given a fictional scenario to read through and analyse. You will then make decisions and recommendations based on the scenario.
  • Group Exercise – you will have to discuss and resolve an issue as a team. You will be examined on:
    • leadership
    • teamwork
    • negotiating
    • problem solving
  • Role Play – you will take on a role, along with an actor, in a one-to-one meeting. You will need to act differently depending on the scenario that you are given. Possible scenarios include:
    • Handling a difficult customer or complaint.
    • Carrying out a performance management conversation with a member of staff.
    • Negotiating a contract or project delivery.
    • Meeting to discuss your company’s ‘equality’ record.
  • Interview – another competency-based interview.
  • Presentation – you will need to give a presentation on a particular topic. Further details will be provided prior to the assessment day.

You will receive a response, regarding the outcome of your application, shortly after the assessment day.
