HOW WE CAN HELP

Psychometric testing and assessment centres are used to sift out individuals using criteria that have been demonstrated to be related to success in the job itself. The use of a Numerical Reasoning test and a Verbal Reasoning test online is often responsible for the rejection of more than 50% of applicants alone! This means that 50% of the total number of applicants that had their initial application form accepted, will not proceed on to any further stages which occur after the online testing.

Psychometrics tests are often used to screen out over 50% of applicants at the online stage.

Unfortunately, due to the limitations of these assessment techniques, some individuals are incorrectly rejected as they have not been able to demonstrate their ability to an extent that accurately reflects their 'true' ability. One of the most commonly accepted explanations for this is lack of practice – see the Practice Section below for more information on this.

In fact, this year it is anticipated that most organisations have raised the “bar”, sifting out even more individuals due to increased applications. The need to practise to ensure success through the testing has never been greater!

Practice

Practising psychometric tests helps put individuals at ease as it increases familiarity with the content and material which they are likely to come across, as well as the format and presentation of the information.

Personalised and Detailed Feedback

Graduates First provides detailed feedback, giving you a personalised breakdown of your performance in a variety of ways that will help inform your efforts prior to the real test. Expert reporting options will, not only provide you with a ‘normed’ score – telling you how well you have done in comparison to other similar graduates – it will also give you a detailed breakdown of the questions that you struggled most with. For example, with the numerical tests, the intelligent reporting system will automatically determine those question types that were most problematic such as those that are “percentage” based or “chart” based and so on.

Our expert reporting system will tell you whether you need to speed up, or whether you are working too quickly and not focussing on accuracy.

All of this information combined serves as a valuable asset in helping you to succeed through those stages where normally more than 50% of individuals are rejected from the recruitment process.
